Your experience begins with pickup from your accommodation in Bali, followed by a scenic drive to the island’s western tip. From there, we’ll cross by ferry to Java, enjoying views of the ocean and surrounding mountains as we make our way to your overnight stay.
Once in Java, we’ll check into a local hotel, where you can rest, have dinner, and prepare for your early-morning ascent.
Before dawn, we’ll begin our hike into the Ijen crater—a moderate trek through otherworldly landscapes under the stars. As you approach the crater rim, you’ll witness the rare Blue Fire phenomenon, caused by ignited sulfuric gas seeping from the Earth. It’s like standing on another planet.
After sunrise, we’ll explore the acidic turquoise lake and witness local sulfur miners at work—an intense and humbling look at life around the volcano.
